About

Air France has placed its first order for the 777 on 20th November 1996 and has since then successively increased the number of its Boeing 777s.
In late May 2007, AF has ordered 18 more 77Ws which are going to replace the 744s in AF fleet by 2012.
The "high-density" 77W for flights from Orly to the DOM/TOM has risen up some doubts by the airport operator, because the weight of these 777s could have been harmful to Orly's run- and taxiways. This problem was later solved in a mutual agreement between AF and ADP.

During the roll-out ceremony (21st May) of the 1st 777 Freighter, which will be delivered to Af in early 2009, Pierre Vellay (Senior VP New Aircraft and Corp. Fleet Planning) said: "We are very pleased with the high level of participation and input Boeing solicited from the customers in the development of this airplane ... Working as true partners with Boeing on the 777 Freighter, we are pleased with the capability and performance it will bring to the air cargo industry."
